Terms and conditions

By creating an account or placing an order on YumYumEats you agree to these terms.

Last updated 16 October 2026

1. What we are

YumYumEats is operated by Aquafusion CC trading as YumYumEats. It is an online marketplace that connects customers with independent home cooks, bakers and chefs ("cooks"). We are not the cook, we do not prepare, store or hand over the food, and the sale of food is between the customer and the cook. We provide the platform, verification checks, payment collection and support.

2. Accounts

  • You must be 18 or older and give accurate details. Keep your password private; you are responsible for activity on your account.
  • We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, are fraudulent, or put others at risk.

3. Ordering and payment

  • Prices are set by cooks, in rand. Orders are confirmed when payment succeeds and are subject to the cook's portion limits and cut-off times.
  • Cake and other made-to-order requests are confirmed when you accept a quote and pay.
  • Payments are processed by Paystack. See payments, fees and refunds for cancellations and refunds.

4. Collection

Orders are collected from the cook in the agreed window. The exact address is shown after payment. Treat cooks' homes and neighbours with respect. Uncollected orders are not refunded unless the cook agrees.

5. Cook terms

  • Cooks are independent businesses, not employees or agents of YumYumEats, and are responsible for their own tax, insurance and legal compliance.
  • Cooks must provide accurate ID and proof of address, and may be approved only after we verify them. Documents are used only for verification and kept private.
  • Cooks must prepare food hygienically and in line with the Foodstuffs, Cosmetics and Disinfectants Act and applicable municipal health by-laws. A Certificate of Acceptability is optional on the platform but may be legally required in your municipality; this is your responsibility.
  • Cooks must list ingredients and declare major allergens accurately (including milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, peanuts, tree nuts, wheat/gluten, soy and sesame), and must not sell food they believe is unsafe.
  • Cooks agree to the 20% commission on each order, deducted before payout. Off-platform dealing to avoid the commission on customers introduced by YumYumEats is not permitted.
  • Cooks must honour confirmed orders. Repeated cancellations, poor food safety or valid complaints can lead to suspension.

6. Food safety and allergies

Food is prepared in home kitchens that may handle allergens. Customers with allergies must read the allergen information and contact the cook before ordering. We cannot guarantee any dish is free from an allergen.

7. Reviews and conduct

Reviews must be honest and based on your own order. You may not harass others, post unlawful content, or misuse the platform. We may remove content that breaks these rules.

8. Our responsibility

We take reasonable care to run the platform and verify cooks, but we do not inspect kitchens. To the extent the law allows, YumYumEats is not liable for the quality, safety or description of food made by cooks, or for indirect losses. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

9. Privacy

See our privacy policy.

10. Changes and governing law

We may update these terms and will show the date above; continued use means you accept the update. These terms are governed by South African law and the courts of the Western Cape.
