Frequently asked questions

Are the cooks safe and licensed?

Every cook is identity-checked and address-verified, and agrees to our food safety rules before approval. A Certificate of Acceptability from the municipality is optional and earns a visible badge. Cooks are independent food businesses and are responsible for the food they make.

How do I handle allergies?

Check each dish's allergen information, and message the cook before ordering if you have a serious allergy. Home kitchens handle nuts, gluten, dairy and eggs, so cross-contact is possible. Nobody can guarantee an allergen-free kitchen.

Why can I not see the cook's exact address?

Cooks' privacy matters. Map pins are approximate (about 1 km). You get the full address and collection details only after you pay.

How do I pay?

Online through Paystack. See the payments page for details.

Is there delivery?

Not yet. Orders are collected from the cook.

Can I cancel or get a refund?

Yes before the cook's cut-off time. After that, refunds apply when the cook cancels or the food is not as described. Full details are on the payments page.

How do cake requests work?

Describe the cake, date and budget. The cook replies with a quote. If you accept and pay, the order is confirmed.

How do I become a cook?

Sign up, then choose Become a cook. Upload your ID and proof of address, agree to the food safety rules, and wait for approval. It is free to join.

What does it cost cooks?

Nothing upfront. YumYumEats keeps 20% of each order and the rest is paid to you after collection.
