Become a home cook on YumYumEats: how it works and what you keep
If friends and family keep asking you to cook for them, you may already have a food business. YumYumEats gives you a profile on the map, ordering, payments and customers, and you keep control of your menu and your time.
Joining
- Sign up and accept the Cook Agreement and the Terms
- Upload your ID and proof of address (they stay private)
- Confirm you will follow the food safety rules
- Optional: add a Certificate of Acceptability to earn a badge
- We review your documents, then approve your profile
Selling
Publish a menu with portion limits and an order cut-off, or take made-to-order requests such as birthday cakes and send customers a quote. Customers collect from you, and they only get your exact address after they have paid.
The commission
There is no joining or listing fee. YumYumEats keeps 20% of each order and you receive the rest after the order is collected. Example: on a R500 order, you receive R400.
Know your obligations
You are an independent business, responsible for your own tax and for checking whether your municipality requires a Certificate of Acceptability or other approval for your kitchen.
